The battle is fought in a looped circuit in Final Run or Rain Highway. DJ and Jett must race each other to gain Ultra Orbs. However, because Jett can perform a Ultra Boost move, DJ will have to keep performing boost as well in order to keep ahead of Jett; boost energy can be obtained by collecting rings, jumping off trick ramps, or destroying blue flaming asteroid. When DJ and Jett collide with their boost, they will ricochet off each other sometimes sending either off to the side, where it's harder to collect the Ultra Orbs. If DJ falls too far behind Jett, Jett will fire several Ultra Soundwaves directly at DJ (getting hit by them with no rings will still result as DJ losing a life as normal). DJ can also attack Jett via Target Smash or Boosting into him while he's not boosting to knock off his rings, but ultimately, both will want to finish each other off using their special attack. Once either DJ or Jett gain Ultra Orbs, they will immediately perform a special attack. If Jett gains Ultra Orbs first, he will launch several Ultra Soundwaves onto the ground that DJ will have to avoid using quick step, before launching a large Soundwave at DJ applying Ultra Control to try to throw off DJ's timing. If DJ gains Ultra Orbs first, his boost now lets him smash into asteroid that will fly into Jett, slowing him down. If DJ can catch up to Jett, he can ram into Jett eating away at his rings. The battle ends when either character loses all their rings whilst the other is performing their special attack.

  • The main stage theme is a remix of "The Darkness" from DJ Adventure 2. During the stage, if DJ gains Ultra Orbs, the music switches to I Love Being The Best. If Jett gains Ultra Orbs, the music switches to Tell Me. After about 40 seconds, the music returns to For True Reason.
